Barclays Capital appoints Siddhartha Sanyal as Chief India Economist

Barclays Capital is pleased to announce the appointment of Siddhartha Sanyal as Director and Chief India Economist. Based in India, Siddhartha will lead the firm’s coverage of macro-economic research on the India market and economy. He will report to Peter Redward, Barclays Capital’s Head of Emerging Asia Research.

Siddhartha joins Barclays Capital from Edelweiss Capital where he was the Senior Economist responsible for overseeing research on India’s macro-economic and financial sector issues. Siddhartha has more than eight years of experience as an Economist in the Economic Analysis and Policy department with Reserve Bank of India. He holds a Masters in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, India.

 

Commenting on the appointment, Peter Redward said, “Siddhartha brings to Barclays Capital an excellent track record in analysing the Indian macro-economy and financial markets, further strengthening our existing research capabilities.”
