Changes in Cisco Systems' India, SAARC Operations

Rangu Salgame to leave Cisco India Operations
 
BANGALORE, India - July 21, 2006
 
Cisco Systems® announced today that Mr. Rangu Salgame will leave his position of President - Cisco Systems, India & SAARC. Mr. David Caspari, Cisco's Vice President of Service Provider Operations, Asia Pacific, after a transition process, will become the acting President of Cisco India, while a search for a permanent replacement for Mr. Salgame is conducted. Mr. Caspari will continue to report to Mr. Owen Chan, Cisco's President of Asia Pacific Operations.
 
"Rangu Salgame has been instrumental in the significant growth and development of our business in India. Over the last three years, he has built a strong, customer-focused leadership team. I would like to thank Rangu for his substantial contributions - and wish him the best as he moves to the next phase of his career," said Mr. Chan.
 
Under Mr. Salgame's leadership, Cisco has experienced unprecedented growth and gains in market share in India. The Indian networking market has grown rapidly in the recent years, fueled by liberalization, market reforms and telecommunications deregulation. In October of 2005, the company announced it would invest over US $1.1 billion in India over a three-year period in recognition of the country's rapid development both as a market and a center of research and development.
 
Mr.Salgame has been with Cisco for three years, joining the company in July of 2003. Prior to joining Cisco to lead the company's India operations, Mr.Salgame spent four years advising and managing venture capital backed companies. He was the President & CEO of Edgix, an Internet infrastructure company, with operations across North America, Latin America and Europe. Prior to Edgix he was a senior executive with Verizon Communications.
