Chief Vigilance Commissioner releases book authored by CVO of SAIL

A book titled ‘Reflections-an insight into the Vigilance Conundrum’, written by Mr Venugopal K Nair, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of SAIL, was released by the Central Vigilance Commissioner of India, Mr Pratyush Sinha, at a function held at Ispat Bhavan, SAIL headquarters on 2nd December, 2009. Amongst others, the function was attended by Shri S K Roongta, Chairman, SAIL, members from the Board of Directors of SAIL, and other dignitaries.

The book covers not just basic functions of vigilance but also interesting real life situations and how they were overcome. Mr. Nair has used case studies to delineate and explain his reflections on various issues. Replete with various learning points, the book serves as a handy guide for all officials, especially those from the public sector and government enterprises. In fact the book is valuable for any reader and not only for employees, as the practical solutions offered in the book can also be related to the issues of day to day life. The book, which presents a modern style of vigilance functioning, can be used as a reference book by various Vigilance Organizations in the government sector.  

 

About the Author
Mr Venugopal K Nair is an Addl. Director General of Police level officer of Indian Police Service. He has been working as the CVO of SAIL for almost five years and has transformed the vigilance functioning from punitive bend to a proactive one. His initiative and thrust on bringing transparency in rules and procedures has contributed in getting ISO Certification for Vigilance Department of SAIL.

Mr Nair’s ambit of experience includes a variety of assignments in Police as well as administrative field. He has also been conferred the Presidents’ Police Medal for meritorious service in 2003 and President’s Police Medal for distinguished service in 2008.
