CII's Young Indians' take delegation to the United Kingdom

Positioned as brand ambassador of New Age India, the delegation will meet young parliamentarians of UK,  explore avenues for partnership and share knowledge on Indian entrepreneurship

The Young Indian (Yi) chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is leading a 15 member delegation to United Kingdom on 24-25 June 2009. Positioned as enterprising brand ambassadors of New Age India and Indian Business, the delegation will be meeting like minded Next Gen business, social and political leaders of UK. Yi through this venture is on a look out for opportunities to step up cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Bringing together young entrepreneurs from both the countries, the initiative will reinforce the theme of Yi while building bridges between both ‘Young Businesses’ and 'Young in Business'. The representatives will share knowledge on Indian entrepreneurship, business strategy; which at present stands on the theme of ‘successful entrepreneurship in scarcity'. The delegates from across different sectors will also be exploring partnership avenues in the UK.

 

The agenda of the delegation further includes discussions on how India is handling global recession; share India’s 75th year vision and contributions made by Yi overseas for the country’s development. The delegation will also share its program for participatory democracy, governance and value based leadership. The visit will be marked by delegates meeting Lord Meghnad Desai and Sir Thomas Harris, Vice Chairman Standard, Chartered Capital Markets plc. A seminar on ‘Young Talent: Destination UK / India’ organised by UK India Business Council Next Generation Network will also be attended by the delegates.

Young Indians (Yi) is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India’s premier business association, formed in the year 2002, with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation. Yi has over 900 direct members in 17 city chapters & 139 members in 2 corporate chapters. Yi engages another 10,000 members through its District Chapters, Farmer Nets and Student Nets. The Yi membership includes young progressive Indians between the age group of 25 & 40 years. The members comprise of entrepreneurs, professionals and progressive achievers from different walks of life. “To become the voice of young Indians globally” being the vision of Yi, it provides a platform for young Indians to participate in and contribute to being and integral part of the Indian Growth Story.

In 2008, Young Indians partnered with CII on the Mission on India@75: The Emerging Agenda, which reflects its aspirational role to facilitate the acceleration in India’s transformation into an economically vital, technologically innovative, socially and ethically vibrant global leader by year 2022. The Yi organisation and activities are today aligned to work towards the goals set in the vision of India@75.
