Crompton Greaves despatches first of its kind UHV reactor to PGCIL

India’s first 765KV, 80MVAr single phase reactor

Crompton Greaves (CG), part of the US$ 4 bn Avantha Group, today despatched India’s first 765kV, 80MVAr single phase reactor to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) for its Gaya substation. The ultra high voltage (UHV) reactor was flagged off by Mr Laurent Demortier, CEO and Managing Director, CG. Also present were Mr B.S. Pandey, Executive Director, Quality Assurance & Inspection, PGCIL; Mr J.G. Kulkarni, Vice President, Power Systems – Asia, CG; and the senior management team of Crompton Greaves.

With this, CG has achieved another milestone in the UHV transmission domain. In the past, the company has successfully manufactured and despatched a 765kV generator transformer and interconnecting transformers.

 

This project was of strategic importance for the company's entry into the UHV market. The order was despatched before its scheduled delivery in July 2012.
