A movement to eradicate myths of banking Cord Blood Stem Cells
Cryo-Save, Europe’s leading stem cell bank announced September as their Cord Blood Stem Cell Awareness Month in India bringing together organizations and individuals around the country to realize and spread the message about the latest advancements in medical science that can save thousands of lives.
Cord Blood Stem Cell Awareness Month is a public education initiative linking researchers, doctors, patients and common public around the country. It provides a platform to appreciate the scientific and clinical developments on stem cells, unfolding the speculations and myths around the concept and therefore encourage more people to store cord blood stem cells. Cryo-Save has taken this initiative to foster greater understanding about cord blood stem cell storage and also its potential applications for various life threatening diseases.
On this occasion, Dr Parijatha Rao, Director, Laboratory Operations, Cryo-Save India, said “We would like to encourage more expectant mothers to store the cord blood as it can extend the mother’s care for a life time and thereby ensure the future health of the child”.

Ongoing research will explore therapies for various other diseases in the near future. The community must therefore make a concerted effort to support such research and increasing public awareness about cord blood banking is essential.
