E.C. Oxenham forays into India; forms JV - Nirvana Biosys

E.C. Oxenham & CY Ltd, Mauritius, having a 75 year heritage of wine making with a French Lineage has entered into an agreement with a group of Indian promoters to form a JV company—Nirvana Biosys, a committed high quality wine making company to capitalize the opportunities in the fast growing wine market segment in India. Under the joint venture, all products and brands in the E.C. Oxenham portfolio would be available to Nirvana Biosys for production and marketing under the foreign partner’s supervision. The JV will be introducing a range of red, white, sparkling, port, lychee and mango wines for Indian and International markets.

 

The new venture will be headquartered in New Delhi, with operations including state-of-the-art winery on Delhi-Jaipur Highway at Bawal, Haryana. The JV has used high quality production equipment which includes an Italian automatic bottling plant manufactured by Bertolaso, with a capacity of 4500 bottles per hour. The new facility has been set up under the direct supervision of Mr. Brian Oxenham of E.C. Oxenham and CY. Ltd. The Winery has an initial installed capacity of over one million liters per year, which is expandable to cope with future demands.

Oxenham & CY Ltd.

“This joint venture will enable us to produce and deliver international quality wines with grape juice from France, Italy, South Africa and other fine grape producing regions of the world. The unique process, facilitated by Mr. Brian Oxenham of E.C. Oxenham and CY, enables us to retain the true taste, aroma and flavour of these distinctive grapes and also overcome the challenges of long distance transportation at high temperature, which can adversely impact the quality of wine,” informed Mr. M.K. Rustagi, Joint Managing Director, Nirvana Biosys.

Wine consumption in India has been picking up at a rapid pace and offers a great opportunity. Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai are the markets that are taking up to wines. However, one can see sales in smaller places like Chandigarh as well.

Nirvana Biosys has recently set up a winery the first in North India in Haryana on NH-8 to Jaipur ,80 kms from Delhi ( two hours drive).
