EEMA (Event and Entertainment Management Association), first-of-its kind Non-profit body of companies, organizations & institutions operating in the Event Management, Experiential Marketing and Brand Activation space across India today announced that it has given a formal recognition to EMDI (EMDI Institute of Media and Communication) for its event management courses (part time and full time) offered in India.
The recognition given by EEMA to EMDI’s courses has been an initiative for further pursuing its mandate of structuring and improving standards of the Events Industry in Indian region. The industry body will provide guidance to EMDI in the modification of the course curriculum based on the industry requirements. It also ensures that EMDI students will now be further equipped with practical knowledge by executing on all events related to EEMA, industry body’s representative companies and will also be absorbed as interns by the stakeholders of India’s largest event management and entertainment management body. The recognition also ensures that EEMA companies and its core management will deliver series of guest lectures at EMDI institute.
EMDI on its part will also work closely with EEMA to further support their objectives in India and abroad, leveraging their presence across India and the Middle East.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Brian Tellis (President EEMA and Chairman Fountainhead Events) said, “It gives me great pleasure to sign this agreement and recognize EMDI’s courses. We are looking at a long term strategy with our partners, and this is surely the first step in the right direction. Through EEMA we will put our collective experience to ensure that young talent in the industry is trained correctly, which will ensure the professionalism of the industry in the future. There is no greater investment of time and effort, than investment in talent.”
Speaking on behalf of EMDI, Nowshir Engineer, Managing Director said, “It gives us great pleasure to note that EMDI’s courses and content have been approved by the EEMA Executive Committee. Our courses have now become the defacto platform for excellence. We are pleased to note that EMDI’s standing as India’s largest events training institute is now enhanced with this industry recognition.”
Priya Shaikh – General Manager EMDI added, “This agreement cements our relationship with the industry. Both EEMA and us are committed to raise the bar of professionalism, and therefore have decided to work very closely in achieving that objective. We plan to have monthly meetings to monitor the progress and keep the quality momentum going. We have never seen such commitment from industry bodies earlier, and we look forward to working with the best from here on!”
The Event and Entertainment Industry has grown exponentially over the last two decades with several thousand entities operating in this space in various segments and at various levels over a hundred cities across the country. While there are no accurate estimates of the size of this industry, it has been variously estimated at between Rs 2000 to Rs 5000 crores.
