- IGNOU certification for skill set up-gradation courses

In a milestone development, Everonn Skill Development Limited (ESDL), a subsidiary of the world’s largest VSAT Network education company Everonn Education Limited, today launched its Hospitality Programmes.
The courses offered by ESDL and aimed at upgrading skill sets in the hospitality industry to meet the global standards, will be certified by IGNOU, the world’s largest Open University.
Prof. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, presided over the launch event. The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion were Mr. T. V. Jayaraman, CEO, ESDL, Mr. Rajendran Nair, I.A.S, Former Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Prof. P. R. R. Nair, Officer on Special Duty and Coordinator at IGNOU and Dr. Nayantara Padhi, Sr. faculty - School of Management Studies, IGNOU.
ESDL has recently inked an MoU with IGNOU for the certification of short term Hospitality Programmes. ESDL will offer 20 short duration Non–Credit Hospitality courses ranging between 1 to 6 months.
The courses are specially crafted by a panel of Industry experts to match the industry’s ever changing needs and employment centric as well.
Commenting on the initiative, Prof Pillai said: “The courses offered by ESDL are very significant. Today, only 5% of the total work force in the country as a whole has some sort of a skill certificate in contrast to over 85% in the developed countries. If we strive to enhance this skill upgradation and certification level to even 10% in the next 3 years, the national productivity will more than double.”
Mr. T.V. Jayaraman said: “We at ESDL are happy to make our humble contribution to the hospitality industry which is growing by leaps and bounds as the country increasingly becomes destination for global tourism. In this context, it is imperative that India offers world class services in hospitality sector and live by our old adage Atithi Devo Bhava, which means that a visitor is akin to God for us.”
Apart from the hospitality courses, ESDL will offer a series of credit and non-credit courses in Apparel, Merchandising and Textile which will also be certified by IGNOU. ESDL aims to impart industry-centric skill-sets to youth, enabling them to gain employment while ensuring the relevance of their training to the Industry.
The world class content and teaching methodologies used by ESDL have been developed through its partnerships with leading Universities, Industries and vocational content providers. This has ensured the industry validation, resulting in placement of its trainees.
