GE appoints Tejpreet Chopra as president & CEO for India

Bangalore, May 21, 2007: General Electric Company (GE) today announced the appointment of Tejpreet Singh Chopra (TP Chopra) to the position of President & CEO for GE in India, succeeding Scott R Bayman, who has served with distinction in this role for 14 years. TP Chopra will be responsible for the strategic and overall leadership of all GE businesses in India.
 
TP Chopra is currently the President and CEO of GE Commercial Finance, India. A ten-year GE veteran, TP Chopra brought considerable management and global finance experience to the post of CEO, Commercial Finance, which he assumed in May 2006. Prior to this, TP Chopra was Senior Vice-President and Country Head - India for GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing and financing unit of GE. In 2005, he moved from the unit's headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, USA, to open the GECAS office in Delhi and has since arranged for more than US$1 billion in financing for India's growing airline industry.
 
Since joining GE in 1996, he has held positions in marketing, structured finance and risk management, at Stamford and Hong Kong for GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS).
 
With over 20 years of experience, TP Chopra takes up the position of President & CEO, GE in India with effect from 01 June 2007, reporting directly to Mr. Ferdinando Beccalli-Falco, President & Chief Executive Officer, GE International.

A graduate from St Stephen's College, Delhi University and Cornell University, with degrees in Economics and an MBA respectively, TP Chopra held various business roles in France, England, Hong Kong, India and USA.
