Hewitt Associates [NYSE: HEW], a global human resources management and outsourcing company, today announced the launch of the 6th Hewitt Best Employers in India 2009 study. This is a part of the Hewitt Best Employers in Asia 2009 study conducted across key countries in Asia including Australia and New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

The 2009 study will explore new trends and factors that are impacting human capital management in Indian Inc and will delve into factors such as how workplace diversity, the synergies of employee personal values and corporate values contribute to making Best Employers. Research aspects including organizational culture, talent scarcity, part time and casual employment, the use of contractors, perceptions of corporate responsibility and gender-based diversity make this study relevant to trends and developments in the market today.

According to Mr. Vishal Pandit, Market Manager India and Middle East, Hewitt Associates "When Hewitt conducted the inaugural Hewitt Best Employers in India study back in 2001, we were eager to understand how some companies became regarded as significantly better places to work. But during the course of our studies, we unearthed what many believe to be a more significant finding: Best Employers actually deliver better business results than others. As such, the data and analyses have evolved into one of the most important studies in the region when it comes to finding out what drives business growth."

"Our studies have shown that Best Employers attract nearly Five times more talent and are able to achieve 35 per cent higher employee retention rates. The 2009 study will see the introduction of some exciting and new research initiatives and we believe this will be the largest ever survey of the values of Indian employees." Mr. Pandit added.

What sets this study apart from others is the unique, rigorous and time-tested methodology conducted over a period of minimum Nine months. This also makes the Hewitt Best Employers study one of its kind globally. The study procedure involves surveying the participating organizations using Three instruments developed by Hewitt: the Employee Opinion Survey (to gauge the level of employee engagement and gather information on employee perceptions of their work environment), People Practices Inventory
