On the occasion of India’s 61st Republic Day, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Jitin Prasada inaugurated the Oil Companies ‘Check & Fill’ Campaign at HP Auto Care Centre, Niti Marg, New Delhi. The ‘Check& Fill’ Campaign is being launched by PSU Oil Marketing Companies i.e. IOCL, HPCL & BPCL on an All India basis.

During the inauguration of the campaign, Shri Jitin Prasada, highlighted the need to improve awareness among customers about their right to demand ‘Quality and Quantity’ of the fuels purchased by them from the Retail Outlets.

He mentioned that the Oil Companies make every effort to ensure that the Petrol and Diesel sold to customers from their stations comply with the Quality & Quantity (Q&Q) standards stipulated, and now even the customers have an opportunity to test for themselves the Q&Q of the product they purchase. He stressed that the customer has the right to demand to conduct Q&Q tests when they visit the Fuel Stations (Retail Outlets) for purchasing Petrol and Diesel.

The customers can carry out quality checks for Petrol through a simple Filter paper test. The quality of Petrol and Diesel can also be checked by their density. All Retail Outlets have a pre-calibrated 5 Litre standard measure duly stamped by the Weights & Measures Department and customers should check the Quantity of fuel using this calibrated measure, said the Minister.

Shri Prasada also said that the equipments required for conducting such Quality & Quantity checks and the simple procedure for conducting such tests are made available to the customers in the form of leaflets/handouts at the Retail Outlets.

Minister told the Press that the Oil Companies have also got the toll free numbers 155233 or 1800-2333-555 for easy access by the customers. If the customers are not satisfied with the test results or want to give any other suggestion or complaints pertaining to Petrol/Diesel, the customers should contact on the above toll free Nos. for complaint redressal.
