IIFT's 3-day Annual Management Fest, Quo Vadis concludes

Quo Vadis 2010, the annual management fest at IIFT which provides a meeting ground for the business schools and corporate, concluded on Sunday at the IIFT campus at Qutub Institutional area. Participants from IIM A, B,C,L,I,K,S, FMS, XLRI, MDI, SPJain, NMIMS, JBIMS, XIMB, IMT, IMI, MICA, NITIE, IIT-D, IIT-B, KJ Somaya, Great Lakes Institute attended the 3-day event.

Held annually in the month of November, Quo Vadis is the flagship management and cultural festival that the B-school fraternity eagerly awaits. This year the event was sponsored by Religare, Indiabulls Real Estate, DLF, Cognizant Business Consulting, Reliance Industries, TATA Consultancy Services, Vedanta Resources, NCDEX, Madura F&L, Cox and Kings, Purvankara Projects and others. TATA Motors and MMTC were the gold sponsors for the festival.

 

The inaugural session of the Quo Vadis was inaugurated by Mr. Munish Bhargava, Corporate and Placement Advisor, IIFT. Mr. BN Ratnakar, General Manager (Delhi region), Central Bank of India was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Ms. Archala Dayal, President, Inner Wheel Club of Panchshila Park, Mrs. Kumuda Bhargav, Ex-President, Inner Wheel Club also attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Munish Bhargava, Corporate and Placement Advisor, IIFT said: “Quo Vadis provides the perfect platform for the best B-schools in our country to engage with their peers by participating in challenging management competitions.”

Mr. BN Ratnakar said: “We are pleased to partner with IIFT for Quo Vadis 2010. We wanted to drive home the point that public sector banks like ours offer great career opportunities to management students and this was the appropriate avenue to engage with audience of such prestigious business schools.”

From a humble beginning, Quo Vadis has today transformed itself into a management spectacle, one that befits the fest of a top 10 B-school of the country and draws footfalls of over 500 members of the B-school cadre across the country.

The full program of Bajao, the inaugural performing musical programme at IIFT annual management fest was held on November 19, 2010 with the finale public performance by Jehovah. The musical contest recorded a total of 25 bands from across the country through the IIFT Annual Management Fest, Quo Vadis 2010. The performances included the ones by Jehovah, Dementia, Rusted Strings, Avalanche and Middle Finger Theory. These five bands were selected after a grueling audition round with Rusted Strings finally emerging as the winner. The lucky band went home with a kitty of Rs30,000.

The winners enchanted audiences with self-composed tunes which the wildly enthusiastic crowd lapped up. “It was a welcome break from the same old unoriginal cover bands”, says Harshad Sardeshmukh, one of the organizers of the battle of bands.

“Bajao was a rare opportunity for artists from the musical fraternity to meet and I am grateful for the chance to be here.” said Michael, the lead vocalist of the winning band, Rusted Strings.

The musical floor was abuzz with activity as over 300 students from the leading management institutes of India cheered the young musicians.

Indian Ocean, a contemporary fusion music band from Delhi, performed live at the Annual Management fest of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade on November 20. The band performed songs from his hit albums Kandisa, Jhini and their newest album 16/330 Khajoor Road.

The musical floor was abuzz with activity as over 400 students from the leading management institutes of India cheered the rock band.

IIFT won the Masuk Pasar, The International Market Entry Strategy Competition held at the IIFT Campus. The home team from IIFT Delhi has won the grand prize in Masuk Pasar: The International Market Entry Strategy Competition organized by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade as part of Quo Vadis 2010, their annual management and cultural festival.

Contestants from the leading business schools of India had to submit a written synopsis of their suggested market entry strategy for TATA Motors in ASEAN markets in the initial round, based on which 6 teams were shortlisted to present their findings at the grand finals held at the IIFT campus on 21st November. The winners earned themselves a prize money of Rs 40,000 along with the runners-up taking home a cool Rs20,000. And if that was not enough, the winners also received PPI’s from TATA Motors, showing just how seriously the company takes competitions such as these.

On Sunday, November 21, 2010 the rock music fans were treated to an exclusive one-night only LIVE and intimate performance from the legendary singer, Raghu Dixit. Hosted by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade at their annual management fest, Quo Vadis 2010 the students from leading B-schools in India were treated to a plethora of hit songs like Gudgudiya and Khidki from his album. The crowd went berserk at his song Amber. Karthik Iyer, the violinist of the band won lots of female hearts with his skillfulness.

"This performance is a unique opportunity for students to experience an intimate evening with their favorite rock star, Raghu Dixit. This was a spectacular one-of-a-kind musical performance like no other," said Mr. KT Chacko, Director, IIFT.

This performance was followed by the “BANDISH”, who rocked the IIFT campus. Bandish was formed in the year 2005 by one of India’s most respected drummer and percussionist- Chris Powell, who was earlier associated with the band “Euphoria” for several years.

IIFT also held a Corporate Quiz, an inter-corporate quiz competition focused on the field of business on November 21, 2010. Renowned quiz master QM Arul Mani conducted the competition. The prelims and finals were held at the IIFT auditorium.

Arul Mani from the Karnataka Quiz Association was the quizmaster for this competition, put together by Quintessential, the Quiz Club of IIFT. Close to 50 teams registered for the event.

Aptly named 'Bizdom', the Business Quiz, this is the most widely participated and hotly contested event during 'Quo Vadis' – the annual fest of IIFT. Teams from all the premier institutes of India and corporates fight it out in the race for the title of the best business quizzers. One of the largest business quizzes conducted by a B School in India, Bizdom has corporates flying in from all over India just to attend the quiz.
