IndiaCan centres will seek to provide skill based training to youth in the region
IndiaCan, a joint venture of Educomp Solutions Ltd., India’s largest education company and Pearson, the world’s largest education services provider has opened its second Vocational Training Centre in the city at EN-27, Advantage Tower, Sector V, Salt Lake.
IndiaCan, launched in late 2009, targets one of India’s biggest opportunities- training young people. As its economy grows, experts say India will require a workforce of 500m within the next decade. IndiaCan’s vision is to transform lives of people by providing them certified job skills through innovative learning systems and best in class customer experience at all touch-points. IndiaCan plans a national network of more than 600 vocational training centres in the near future, focusing on jobs across segments such as finance, retail, IT and insurance.
“After a tremendous response to our first centre at Rash Behari Avenue, we are happy to launch our second centre in the city. We will be soon be launching additional centres in Kolkata and across the state in cities like Durgapur, Asansol, Barrackpur, Howrah, Haldia, Berhampur, Malda, Jalpaiguri, Alipur Duar, Cooch Behar, Bankura and Purulia to take our network strength to 17 in West Bengal this financial year.” said Mr. Sharad Talwar, CEO, IndiaCan.
Talking about the Salt Lake Vocational Training Centre he added, “It will have state-of-art infrastructure and certified experienced faculty members who would focus on providing employment linked skills to the youth in and around Salt lake in high growth industrial sectors like Retail, ITeS, Sales, Media and Telecom etc.”

IndiaCan will also look to partner various Government initiatives for employment generation.
I ndiaCan centre will currently offer courses in Spoken English, Accounts, Sales, Retail and IT, Infrastructure Management and Media & Broadcasting. Additional courses will be launched shortly.
These courses are backed by Pearson's 166 years of Global research and expertise (having trained 2.5 Crore learners worldwide in spoken English alone) IndiaCan has tied up with leading Corporates in each of these verticals including retail, banking & finance, telecom and consumer goods, to provide jobs to students who will successfully complete these courses. IndiaCan has tie ups with leading companies like Religare, Aditya Birla Retail, Cafe Coffee Day, KFC, Costa Coffee, Spice Retail etc. In these programs, selected students are given an offer letter on day 1 of training and join the company after finishing the training. It has already successfully trained and placed people in these companies.
Moreover students will also get an international level certification from Edexcel, UK after successful completion of the course. IndiaCan, has also recently announced the launch of WorkFirst, the first ever international level certification for vocational skills in India for entry level jobs. WorkFirst certification will help lakhs of first time job seekers get into the fast growing retail, sales and service sectors with a greater degree of confidence and certainty of employment.
