Students from weaker sections of the society were awarded certificates and prizes
In a bid to impart self-empowerment to the society’s underprivileged students, Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) Group today awarded certificates to the students enrolled under various courses run by its social responsibility project "Karmaarth" - One Step Ahead.
The certificate award function was held at the JIMS Campus in Rohini Sector-5. Prof. Rajni Abbi, Hon’ble Mayor of Delhi was the Chief Guest of the occasion. The students received their prizes and certificates under the blessings of the Guest of Honour - Dr. Sambit Patra, well-known Social Activist.
Under the aegis of Jagan Nath Gupta Memorial Educational Society, a registered non-profit organization, project Karmaarth aims at benevolence towards society’s underprivileged lot. It runs several vocational training programs for school dropouts, domestic servants, illiterate house wives and uneducated youth. The project also promotes literacy to illiterate children and adults dwelling in slums of Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. R.P. Maheshwari, Director Genera (Hon), JIMS said, “JIMS takes pride in conducting the award function for the underprivileged and often-discriminated men, women and children in the society. Through Karmaarth, we try to extend a helping hand to such individuals who wish to make a positive difference in his/ her life but are unable to do so for their poor socio-economic status. Our mission is to educate and empower these people and to change societal attitudes towards them by making them self reliant, resourceful and confident.”
Karmaarth enables such individuals to become independent and confident by teaching them income-generating skills that allows them to earn a living and support their meager family income. The courses offered in this programme include traditional home-based vocations that girls can pursue even after they get married. The range of vocational courses imparted at Karmaarth includes: Beauty Culture, Cutting & Tailoring, Computer Basic, Computer Hardware, Mobile Repairing and Electrician & Electronic.

"Karmaarth" - One Step Ahead is a corporate social responsibility project undertaken by JIMS Group and funded by the Jagan Nath Gupta Memorial Educational Society. In a short span of time, this charitable project has already achieved a decent reputation among the economically weaker residents of the Delhi.
