John Deere forays into Crop Solutions, Micro Irrigation Products in India

John Deere, the world’s leading producer of agriculture equipment, has announced its entry into two new market segments in India - crop solutions and micro irrigation products. Crop solutions introduced with today’s announcement have enhanced the productivity of farmers in other areas of the world served by John Deere. In addition, John Deere Water Technologies can help farmers improve farm productivity through more optimal use of scarce water resources. With the launch of crop solutions and micro irrigation products, John Deere India said it remains focused on helping transform enterprising farmers from subsistence levels to business entrepreneurs. John Deere is launching in India several crop solutions products to enhance farm productivity and provide unique features. The newly launched range of Crop Solutions and well as Micro Irrigation products are being displayed at the EIMA exhibition organized by FICCI at PUSA, New Delhi from December 3-5, 2009. Today’s announcement builds on John Deere’s continuing efforts to provide high quality products and services to the agricultural sector in India.

 

“John Deere views India as a priority market and the launch of these new products represents John Deere’s confidence in the potential of India’s agriculture sector” said Raj Kalathur, vice president of sales and marketing for Deere in a region that includes India, China, Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Kalathur said that the new products build on the investments Deere has already made in India as it continues to expand to meet customer demand.

John Deere is one of the world’s leading providers of products in precision irrigation and is now entering the micro-irrigation business segment in India with the establishment of a manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Vadodara, Gujarat. John Deere Water Technologies, formed by the acquisition of three leading companies-Plastro Irrigation, Roberts Irrigation and T-Systems International, is a manufacturer of high performance micro and drip irrigation products for the agriculture, nursery, landscape and greenhouse markets.

John Deere Water plans to offer world class technology to farmers in India, helping them in optimum utilization of scarce water resources, enhancing farm productivity and quality of their produce.

Ravi Menon, director, sales and marketing, John Deere India, said, “John Deere is assisting farmers in India in their quest towards global levels of productivity and the launch of these new products will be a major step in helping India farmers realize their potential”.

The products launched today are:

Square Baler Model 338 and Wheel Rake Model WR 1008: Balers and Rakes are ideally suited for handling large volumes of sugarcane trash, rice straw, wheat straw, grass, maize straw, sunflower straw etc. feeding the requirements of the Co-Gen, Bio Mass power sector, sugar, dairy and paper industries. The Baler packs in large quantities of crop residue into compressed, compact and square bales which are easy to handle, transport and stack.The heavy duty Wheel Rake WR 1008 is pulled through the drawbar hitch of the tractor. A single Rake can feed the capacities of 5 Balers, which means that the Rake and Baler system can handle 25 to 30 tons of straw neatly baled per day.

Tractor Operated Cotton Picker Model EMP 7260: Economical, easy to use equipment for harvesting cotton bolls from plants, with picking widths of 70 to100 cm for high productivity

Grain Harvester Model 1048: Combine Harvester for Wheat, Paddy, Soya Bean etc. Powered by the John Deere turbo charged DI engine, a 15 feet wide cutter bar delivers high output.

Sugarcane Harvester Model 3520W: Powered by the John Deere 337 HP or 375 HP engine, capable of handling tallest sugarcane crop; can harvest up to 60 tons per hour of sugarcane.
