Jotun India completes target of setting up 250 customer retail stores across the country

Retail strategy in line with global success in market penetration; Group aims to set up 600 exclusive retail outlets by 2013.

Jotun Paints, one of the world's leading producers and suppliers of paints and coatings, has crossed a major milestone by setting up 250 exclusive customer retail outlets across Southern, Western and Northern India.  The group had originally aimed to complete this number of stores by the end of 2010. 

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Percy Jijina, General Manager, Decorative - Jotun India Pvt Ltd said, “With the commendable growth of the Indian paint industry, and the recognition of individual brands, we as a group have been able to penetrate the Indian market with our uniquely crafted branded retail outlets. We have adopted our successful global strategy of retailing through exclusive showrooms in India with a bid to allow the Indian consumer to explore a wider range of options.”

 

Jotun’s exclusive retail showrooms have been set up by the group through a franchisee route and offer customers a wide range of products and services to choose from. These showrooms are managed by specially trained personnel, who advise customers as to what color shades would suit their homes. In addition, customers are able to select customized exterior / interior color shades, wall texture advice and may also look at how different color shades will look in their homes on specialized color kiosks. 

“The retail strategy has worked well in India as our exclusive showrooms provide a complete touch and feel experience to customers, while simultaneously building the brands reliability” added Jijina.

The group had recently announced its foray into Madhya Pradesh State with the inauguration of 11 brand new exclusive retail stores that were set up in Bhopal and Indore.

Mr. Jijina further added, “The Indian real estate sector has seen a positive growth trend over the past several months and the developments within the sector offer us several lucrative opportunities to expand both in terms of retail as well as production capabilities. We are looking at extending our presence significantly across the country and aim to set up 600 exclusive retail showrooms in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities by the end of 2013”.
