Over 100 AXIS Bank Foundation employees support the cause of adoption

Kale Consultants returned again to the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2011 to demonstrate their support to the cause of adoption. Over 50 Kale Consultants employees ran for ‘Catalyst for Social Action’ (CSA), a registered charitable organization that endeavors to improve the child adoption scenario in India by introducing best practices and enhancing the quality of institutional care.

One of CSA’s many promotional initiatives during the past years have included the launch of a book on adoption, which featured varied authors connected to the cause. Titled “A family for every child”, the book included inspirational articles from celebrities like Sushmita Sen, Raveena Tandon and Sandip Soparrkar who are themselves adoptive parents. Sandip Soparrkar is also the brand ambassador of CSA.

To highlight the state of adoption in the country, CSA had organized a charity dinner on 14th November, 2010 at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai. CSA was also awarded the India NGO Award for the best NGO (Western Region), in the Small NGO category.

Commenting on Kale’s participation in the event, Mr. Vipul Jain, CEO & Managing Director, Kale Consultants Ltd. said, “Kale Consultants’ supports adoption and along with CSA wishes to drive more awareness in this area. It is an issue that is very close to our hearts and we at Kale commend and support CSA’s efforts to build an insightful consciousness on this issue. We believe that our participation in The Mumbai Marathon to support this cause will help raise the voice of the underprivileged and needy and reach the rightful ears. Being an earnest supporter of CSA, the marathon provides us with a platform to showcase our concern for this cause.”

Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Bharati Dasgupta, Managing Trustee - CSA said, “Over the years we have taken significant steps in our venture to spread greater awareness for adoption in India. We intend to be an appropriate ‘catalyst’ in this direction and make a more meaningful impact in the adoption scenario of India. I would also like to take this occasion to thank our supporters for their continuous dedication and encouragement. Without their support, our progress would not have been possible over the last many years.”

Over 50 employees from Kale Consultants Ltd. and 100 other from AXIS Bank participated in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2010 to support the cause of Adoption and Child Rehabilitation taken up by CSA (Catalyst for Social Action).

CSA is an NGO, working for the cause of Adoption and Child Rehabilitation. CSA works with orphanages focusing on vocational training for inmates and destitute homes where children are between the ages of 8-18. CSA believes that adoption and foster parenting is the ideal outcome for homeless children, which is a win-win outcome for both children and parents. CSA works with adoption agencies to build their capabilities, and simultaneously with prospective parents to facilitate their adoption process.

CSA’s objectives are:

  • To increase the number of adoptions in the country
  • To work towards better childcare primarily, while the child is institutionalized so that the acceptance of a child for adoption from an agency outside the metros becomes a reality
  • To facilitate post-adoption guidance and care of the adopted child

The approach that CSA has taken so far is to be a “Catalyst”, i.e. work towards making the existing stakeholders more effective rather than set up an adoption agency. The reason is that there are many agencies already working and CSA would be more effective in achieving its objectives and leveraging its strengths by making them more effective.
