- kBSK’s programme to cover remote rural areas & virgin mouzas across India
In a bid to brighten the lives of hundreds of villagers residing in remote areas cut off from the mainland and without electricity, Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra (KBSK) recently introduced in the capital, a Solar Energization Programme at Constitution Club of India.
Present on the occasion were Hon’ble Shri Oscar Fernandes (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Ex Minister Journal Secretary AICC), Hon’ble Shri Jai Prakash Aggarwal (Member of Parliament from North East Delhi Constituency and President Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, GOI), Hon’ble Shri Mahabal Mishra (Member of Parliament from West Delhi Constituency, Government of India), , Hon’ble Shri Tarwinder Singh Marwah (Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister of Delhi, GOI), Hon’ble Shri Captain Jai Narayan Prasad Nishad (Member of Parliament) and speakers from KBSK.
The programme focuses on Solar Energy as Reliable Source of Energy for Village Electrification. It is tailor-made to fulfill the electricity needs of remote rural areas and virgin mouzas across India. The states to be covered under this programme include Delhi NCT, all the states of North Eastern Region, Uttranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir. The programme is being introduced under Point No 18 Grameen Oorja (Energization of Rural Area) of National Programme - Tpp-2006.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Anindita Bhattacharya – Executive Director, National Level, KBSK – said, “It is a matter of grave concern that even after 63 years of Independence a significant part of rural India is still living in a dark age owning to lack of electricity. Through Solar Energization Programme, KBSK has taken an initiative towards uplifting the condition of hundreds of villagers residing in remote areas across the length and breadth of our country. As per the National Electricity Policy, non-conventional energy sources like solar systems hold the key to the energization of remote villages.”
Mr. Prosenjit Bose – Managing Director of KBSK said it is true needs to generate electricity from every possible source. Since, the Hon’ble President of India sanction for continuation of the implementation of the demonstration programme on providing support of Solar Home Lightening and other small solar systems to generate electricity. We know very well solar power is the most Eco-Friendly, our effort should concentrate on tapping, this renewable source. Moreover, increasing our dependence on this form of energy can lessen our needs for nuclear power and hence prevent any Fukushima – Type Catastrophy. The Government of India should make it mandatory for all multi storied buildings to have the where withal to harness solar power.
KBSK – revealed that, “Initially, KBSK has plans to install solar energy equipment in 50 villages across different states of India. However, in the expansion phase of the programme, KBSK will implement the total system of solar home lightening and street lightening in villages.”
For the successful execution of this major initiative, KBSK has already tied-up with Jyotirgamaya, a company having vast work experience in Solar Energy since 1990. KBSK, has its Rec cum Administrative office at 9/3, Behari Mondal Road, Haltu, Kasba, of Kolkata in West Bengal. KBSK make a group of experts (Headed by Mr. Chandan Sarkar, a well-known pioneer name in West Bengal) in the field of solar energy that is responsible for formulation, design and proper implementation of the projects related to Solar Energy.
According to information by WBREDA, Department of Power & N.E.S, Govt. of West Bengal, there are about 2,000 villages only in West Bengal and as same the other part of country also where conventional electricity line cannot be extended due to prohibitive cost and improper infrastructure. KBSK has taken the initiative because the problems can be solved by the solar energy route. As part of the programmer KBSK will install Solar Home Lighting Systems & Street Lighting Systems in those 2,000 remote rural villages & islands of West Bengal during the next five years and this initiative will also create employment opportunities for about 50,000 unemployed youth across the country.
