INSEAD, one of the top business schools in the world, recently announced that it would begin accepting GRE® test scores for admission into its MBA programme.
“INSEAD provides a direct source of highly talented and creative leaders from a variety of cultures and undergraduate disciplines to the global economy," says Caroline Diarte-Edwards, Director of Admissions and Marketing & Financial Aid at INSEAD. "By accepting GRE test scores, we are able to open the door to greater diversity and attract those individuals who may not have otherwise thought to apply their special skills as tomorrow’s business leaders and entrepreneurs.”
The announcement from INSEAD comes at a time of significant increases in the number of business schools accepting GRE General Test scores, including many of the world’s most highly ranked MBA programmes.
About 450 MBA programmes worldwide now accept the GRE test, including 45 percent of the US News & World Report’s top 100 U.S. programmes and seven of the top 10 global MBA programmes according to The Financial Times. Because of the significant increases in business schools accepting the GRE test, the yearly survey of business schools conducted by U.S. News & World Report for the first time collected GRE test data.
“The trend among business schools of accepting the GRE General Test has extraordinary momentum,” says David G. Payne, VP and COO for College and Graduate Programmes at ETS. Clearly, business schools see the value of tapping into the kind of large and diverse candidate pool that the GRE test provides.”
The interest in the GRE General Test among business schools and students is expected to get an even bigger boost next year with the launch of the GRE revised General Test in August 2011.
