India derives its own advantages from these shows as Indian Telecommunication is the third largest in the world. In its recent statement issued, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has revealed that the country's mobile subscriber base has increased from 893.84 million in December 2011 to 903.73 million in January 2012, growing by 1.11 per cent. The India mobile handsets market, that includes featurephones and smartphones, will grow at over 30 percent during 2012 to touch revenues of Rs 83,377 Crore (USD 18 billion).
Mr. R.K. Pathak, Secretary, Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) & Deputy Director General (IP), Department of Telecommunications said, ““This is the third time we are participating in CommunicAsia and that demonstrates our faith in Asia’s largest International Trade Fair on mobile broadband, mobile commerce and innovations, next generation services, satellite communications, smartphones & devices and many others. BroadcastAsia on the other hand, presents an ideal sharing platform for the Indian Broadcast Industry. BroadcastAsia2012 will welcome new Indian exhibitors like Broadcast Automation Systems and Dejerolive, and returning exhibitors like Canara Lighting & Sconce, EsselShyam Communication Limited, Monarch Innovative Technologies, Rudraksha Technology, WASP3D and more.
The huge popularity of television as an economical form of entertainment has helped Pay TV operators maintain revenue streams and offers promising prospects for satellite players. In fact, with 10,000 channels and 365 million subscribers, Asia’s Pay TV industry is booming and looks positive for the future – according to Media Partners Asia, a Hong Kong-based research consultancy, Asian Pay TV subscriptions will rise to 570 million by 2012, which will still only cover 62 per cent homes with TVs. With almost 3.8 billion people, Asia accounts for over 60 per cent of the world’s population. This combined with strong growth in subscription numbers for Direct-To-Home/Direct Broadcast Satellite (DTH/DBS) services and advanced services, such as HDTV and 3D-TV, are fuelling the demand for satellite services in the region.
Mr. Calvin Koh, Senior Project Manager for BroadcastAsia comments, “India today is a power to reckon with in the global economy, holding tremendous growth and future opportunities in the broadcast technology sector. The Indian audiences today are ready to explore newer frontiers. Through BroadcastAsia, the Indian broadcast industry will get the opportunity to review and showcase latest technologies and also get access to the ideal platform for networking, interaction and business procurement of the highest international quality."
“The Asian satellite market is earmarked for high growth and we are extremely keen to tap into this potential. BroadcastAsia2012 is an important networking event to us as it offers an excellent platform to gain industry knowledge on the Asian market, and grow our business contacts,” says Mr. M.N.Vyas, Executive Director of Essel Shyam.
