Luminaries from India's ICT community, Tata Communications & TEPC return to Asia's premier global networking event

CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia, the most established infocomm technology (ICT) and media communications event of its kind in Asia, will return from 19 to 22 June 2012 at the prestigious Marina Bay Sands and award-winning Suntec Singapore respectively. Following the success of last year’s event, which attracted a total of over 53,000 professional attendees from more than 100 countries, attendees to this year’s shows can look forward to a myriad of the newest technologies, products and solutions from 2,000 multinational and small and medium companies. Visitors can avail of opportunities to listen to industry luminaries, network with business leaders and government officials and forge business partnerships.

 

Strong growth in India’s ICT sector

The Indian IT services industry is expected to reach $100 billion in revenues this year, with exports contributing to about $69 billion. The industry impacts India's GDP by around 7.5% and employs close to 2.8 million employees, with an additional 230,000 employees expected to be added in fiscal 2012.

The telecommunications sector in India is the second largest in the world and on a growth track. According to Business Monitor International (BMI), India is currently adding 8-10 million mobile subscribers every month. It is estimated that by mid-2012, more than 80% of the country's population will own a mobile phone. According to TRAI, up to January 2012, India has 936 million telephone subscribers with 904 million mobile subscribers with a tele-density of 78. The India mobile handset market, that includes feature phones and smartphones, will grow at over 30 percent during 2012 to touch revenues of Rs 40,000 Crore (USD 8 billion). This rapid growth gives Indian companies the impetus to extend their businesses beyond India to other countries in the Asian region.

CommunicAsia presents Indian companies with the most relevant launch pad in Asia

The last edition of CommunicAsia witnessed as many as 59 leading Indian companies which attracted over 1,300 companies from around the world. A total of 49 group delegations came to source from and network with the large selection of exhibitors. Visitors were treated to a galore of global innovations which debuted at the event such as Huawei's MediaPad. Mobile application developers, satellite companies and cloud services were also a major hit with attendees. This year, the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) – set up by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Ministry of Communications & IT, Government of India to promote and develop the export of telecom equipment and services, will be participating in the event for the third consecutive time. TEPC will be leading exhibitors such as Elitecore Technologies Ltd, Indusnet Technologies, Matrix ComsecPvt Ltd, Navigators Software, Nexge Technologies, Space Telelink Limited and more to pursue business opportunities outside of India. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Mr. R.K. Pathak, Secretary for Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council says, “This is the third time we are participating in CommunicAsia and that demonstrates opportunity in Asia Pacific region and our faith in Asia’s most distinguished infocomm technology (ICT) and media communications event.
