The World Economic Forum, WEF, has invited the Honourable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan to participate in its annual meeting at Dalian in China from September 14-16, 2011, as it recognises the increasing contribution and potential of the central Indian State to India's economic growth and growing influence on global business affairs.

Chouhan will lead a delegation of senior state government officials and corporate leaders from Madhya Pradesh to participate in the event. Some of the visiting officials are P.K. Dash, Principal Secretary, Commerce, Industry and Employment Department Govt. of MP., Vivek Agrawal, Secretary to Chief Minister and Managing Director M.P. Road Development Corporation, Promod Kumar Das, Managing Director TRIFAC and Chairman MP State Industrial Development Corporation, Bhopal.

The delegation will organise road shows in Beijing and in Shanghai from September 16-19 in a bid to attract big-ticket investments from Chinese and other international companies.

The broad areas of thrust will be investment opportunities in the state's tourism sector, its agriculture, infrastructure, energy and other areas.

Investments totalling about 119.24 billion USD have already been planned, according to Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, by June 2011 and the state government hopes to attract global investors who can add value to economic growth through their superior technologies, methods, global best practices and sustainable initiatives for societal development.

An investment of this size requires huge unprecedented infrastructure support, the likes of which neither exists anywhere in the country, nor has it been attempted by any other state.

The Madhya Pradesh state government has already set up an apex committee headed by none other than the Chief Minister to fast-track approvals for such big-ticket investments. The committee will also provide single-window clearances in an effort to ensure timely execution schedules and minimise red-tape.

This event of World Economic Forum, Dalian, gives an opportunity to countries of the region to share and expand co-operation in economic field. In a world, where dialogue and connectivity have become imperative, such interactions are beneficial to all.
