Mr. Pranab Mukherjee felicitated with the ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Indian Economy Award 2010’ at CNBC-TV18 IBLA 2010

Honorable Finance Minister, Shri. Pranab Mukherjee presented the awards to the winners. The host for IBLA 2010 was the renowned Indian film director, producer, and TV celebrity, Mr. Karan Johar. The awards aimed at recognizing leaders who have made a difference by carving a niche for themselves, thus creating an edge above their peers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Hon. Finance Minister said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be here at CNBC-TV18 ‘India Business Leader Awards 2010’. Let me start by congratulating CNBC-TV18 for the sixth edition of this wonderful initiative that recognizes exceptional entrepreneurial talent and leadership in diverse fields of our economy. Over the years, the recipients of these awards in different categories have been individuals who epitomize courage, knowledge, ingenuity, vision and a drive to succeed and inspire. This year's list is no different.”
Mr. Mukherjee further added, “Although a society can never thank enough the people who devote their time and energy in the pursuit of excellence within their respective domains of work, I believe recognition of their achievements and their contribution to the society through events like this can encourage them to explore new frontiers and inspire others to follow in their path. The arrival of Indian corporations in the global market and the sophisticated corporate culture that many of these companies exhibit, lends to an optimistic prognosis for the economy in the medium to the long run. Your achievements send a very powerful message that success is achieved through hardwork and dedication. On that note, let me congratulate the Business Award Winners of the previous editions and the current edition for their effort.”
He concluded stating, “Economic growth has to be an instrument for development and not an end in itself. It has to be not only inclusive but also equitable so as to sustain it over long period. In the last few years, we have moved steadfastly in that direction. It is my earnest hope that the Indian entrepreneurs will continue to contribute effectively in our journey ahead to achieve this shared vision.”
Commending on Mr. Pranab Mukherjee’s contribution to the Indian economy, Mr. Raghav Bahl, Founder and Editor, Network18, said, “We have been blessed today to have the Hon. Finance Minister with us as we celebrate the achievements of the year 2010. I am quite convinced that this year will go down as the year of conviction about India.”
He further added, “It's very heartening to know how the conviction about India still exists worldwide.
