Nokia global partner for ICC Twenty20 tournament

Mumbai: August 29, 2007: Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, today announced its association as the global partner for the first ever ICC World Twenty20 tournament held in South Africa from September 11-24, 2007. Additionally, Nokia rolled out an exciting consumer contest - "Catch the match" * which gives the top 100 winners a chance to witness the finals of Twenty20 live in Johannesburg, South Africa.
 
 
Nokia has a strong association with cricket, the most popular sport in India. In 2007 Nokia was the 'on air' sponsor for the West Indies World Cup and for the Champions Trophy held in India, 2006.
 
 
Announcing Nokia's association with ICC World Twenty20 Mr. Devinder Kishore, Director Marketing, Nokia India said "We are delighted to be one of the 4 Global partners of this ICC World Twenty20 Cup, which will give us this exciting & interactive platform to connect with our young consumers."
 
 
Mr Kishore further added "Youth constitute a large percentage of Nokia's addressable market and we have been consistently bringing out initiatives that help Indian youth 'connect to their passions'.
 
 
 
As part of its strategy to connect with the young population in India, Nokia has been associating with youth passions like Cool Sports, Music, and Fashion. In the genre of Cool Sports Nokia hosted the Ngage QD Gaming Championship, Defend Your Turf, the first ever futsal Championship. Over the last few years, in music Nokia has brought several world class music artists including, Shakira, Shaggy, Mark Knopfler, Sting and Enrique Iglesias to India. In Fashion Nokia has a strong association with Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and Nseries lifestyle led campaigns amongst others.
 
 
* How to participate in the Nokia 'Catch the Match' contest
 
 
· Users that own or buy any of the enclosed mentioned Nokia handsets can participate in the Catch the Match contest. The select Nokia handsets include Nokia 2310, 2626, 2760, 3110 Classic, 3230, 5070, 5200, 5300, 5700, 6030, 6070, 6080, 6085, 6233, 6300, N72, N70 M and N73 M.
 
 
· The user needs to type the 15 digit IMEI No. which can be identified by pressing *#06# SMS the T 20 (Space) your 15 digit IMEI number to 5555
 
 
·Once the IMEI No. is received you will be asked to SMS back a 20 world slogan wishing team India for Twenty20 World Cup. The 100 Best entries will win the contest
 
 
·The winners will be flown to South Africa to see the Twenty20 final in September 2007
 
 
The Contest is valid till September 15, 2007.

About ICCTwenty20: Twenty20 is the newest form of cricket where each team bats for a maximum of only 20 overs a side, with each innings lasting for 75 minutes. Twenty20 cricket was first introduced at county level by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2003 and such was the success of the format of the sport, the game quickly spread around the world with the first men's full Twenty20 international taking place in February 2005 between New Zealand and Australia. The ICC Board agreed to the inclusion of an ICC World Twenty20 competition at a meeting in April 2006. It was agreed that the inaugural event would take place in South Africa in September 2007, with the second event scheduled for England and Wales during the ICC's Centenary Year in 2009.
