Ozone Group, an established player in the Pharmaceutical & Consumer Healthcare segments in the country has joined hands with the Government in a unique PPP with an SPV model to facilitate setting up of a Mega Food Park Project near Guwahati with a view to enhance infrastructure for food processing and benefit the farmers and food processing industry of North East region.
“North East Mega Food Park will not only create a platform for farmers to take care of their produce under one roof for collection, but also for the food processing industry for processing the produce and help in cutting down the wastage of the farm produce” said Mr S.C. Sehgal, Chairman Ozone Group of Companies and Chairman and Managing Director of the North East Mega Food Park Ltd.
Ozone group being the anchor promoter of the NE Mega food park, They have also invited investors and industries to come to the North East and invest in the Mega Food Park Project, as environment in the region is very conducive for the same. The region is one of the lungs of the Earth, as it is organic by default. The industry will get lots of subsidy on their investments in terms of income tax benefits as well as power charges etc, which will make the project very lucrative for them. Total subsidies to the tune of Rs 4 crores can be availed of.
Mr AK Absar Hazarika – Director (Operations) North East Mega Food Park added, “The mega sprawling Food Park is being constructed on 50 acres of land and this project is an innovative concept to be introduced and will definitely fetch fruitful results. This move will also enhance the employability quotient of the Assam.”
Ozone Group already employs more than 500 people in their pharmaceutical and ayurvedic manufacturing facilities in the region directly. This project will help generate employment for about 30000 people in the North East region.
It is expected that the North East Mega Food Park will have about 27 food processing units with collective investment of about 250 crores that would eventually lead to a annual turnover of 400 – 500 crores.
Construction work on the North East Mega Food Park began about two years ago. It would be completed in another one year and will be operational in the next year. The location of the North East Mega Food Park is in Nathkuchi near Guwahati.
