Pearson Clinical Assessment (PCA), engaged in training teachers and special educators on Dyslexia through their workshops, held one such session today. The workshop was attended by teachers, special educators & Psychologists. Teachers & Special Educators were from Vagdevi Vilas Institutions, Arts Secondary School & Riddhi Academy respectively. The workshop attend by teachers emphasized on identifying children affected by dyslexia- the most common type of learning disability that afflicts around 5 - 10 % of children.

The daylong workshop educated participants on the characteristic features of dyslexia, and provided training in the administration and interpretation of two flagship psychological tests from Pearson Clinical Assessment: The Raven’s Progressive Matrices and Vocabulary Scales and the Dyslexia Screening Test (DST).

The Raven’s Progressive Matrices and Vocabulary Scales is one of the most widely used tests in India and around the world for testing a child’s intellectual capabilities. DST is used to identify children who are at risk for dyslexia. It enables early identification of dyslexia symptoms, so that it is possible to provide the child with a supportive academic environment and special education.

Through this workshop participants will be able to interpret the results of the Raven’s test and the Dyslexia test together to determine whether a child is at risk for Dyslexia.

"According to Dr. Nitin Anand, Product Development Leader, Pearson Clinical Assessment, the workshop helped the teachers and special educators in understanding concept and indicators of dyslexia and they felt empowered to use the Raven’s Progressive Matrices and Vocabulary scales and Dyslexia Screening Test (DST) within their respective schools for early identification. Research supports that early identification and subsequent intervention leads to promising outcomes. "

PCA aims to help teachers, special educators and, in general, mental health professionals across India in identifying dyslexia among school-going children.
