Pearson Education, the world’s biggest educational company conducted a workshop today on machine design at ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad. The workshop was conducted by Professor U.C. Jindal, author of the book, Machine Designand Retired Professor, Delhi Technological University (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering).
Machine Design is a text book on the design of machine elements for the engineering undergraduates of mechanical, production, and industrial disciplines. The book provides a comprehensive survey of machine elements and their analytical design methods. Besides explaining the fundamentals of the tools and techniques necessary to facilitate design calculations, the text includes extensive data on various aspects of machine elements, manufacturing considerations, and materials. The extensive pedagogical features make the text student-friendly and provide pointers for fast recapitulation.
The workshop examined the challenges in teaching machine design as a subject, and how the course should be made interactive and interesting. This was followed by a discussion on new developments, topics and emerging trends in the field. After the discussion Professor Jindal had a Q & A session and interacted with the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Jindal said, “In the world of machine design, various technologies such as electric motors, mechanical components, engineering materials, fluid power systems, and industrial electronics, as well as selection criteria and requirements for typical engineering applications are the area of focus, and the book gives an insight into the same in a simplistic fashion.”
