MyLabs, driven by Pearson Education’s state of the art technology will deliver world-class educational experience to Indian institutions

Pearson Education, the world’s biggest education company today launched MyLabs, acknowledged as the most sophisticated and advanced teaching resource in the world. Churned by state-of-the-art technology platforms available to Pearson Education globally, MyLabs is presently being used by instructors and students in over 233 countries. MyLabs brings value to the instructors and enables delivery of educational experience through teaching aids such as video cases, mini cases, lecture video’s, management simulations and games, besides access to rich and scholarly material available with likes of Discovery Channel, Ebesco etc and even local library.

Technology has had and will continue to have a significant impact on higher education. The transformation from traditional classrooms to high-tech learning environments has changed learning styles and interactions between instructors and students. Therefore, it is important to investigate the learning styles and preferences of the current generation in order to reach out to them effectively.

Speaking on the launch of Mylabs in India, Mr Vivek Govil, CEO, Pearson Education said “Mylabs is expected to significantly augment teaching resources available with instructors. Pearson Education has consistently strived to improve the quality of instruction and learning through the use of modern technology for the benefit of students and the education fraternity.” He added “we realized instructors were facing difficulties accessing the instructor resources provided with the books they adopt. So while we were engineering the sophisticated resources above, we also packaged the usual instructor resources, such as lecture slides and instructor manuals in Mylabs making it a potent combination.”

Pearson Education has packaged several media-rich and effective teaching resources, such as video, cases, cassettes, lecture videos, management simulations and games etc into MyLabs to bring more value to the instructor's class room experience.

Dr Suneel Sharma, Professor (IT and Entrepreneurship), G.D. Goenka World Institute – Lancaster University, said, “MyLabs gears me up to adopt new teaching and learning forms and assessment tools which are fast and more practical. The study plan and multimedia library are my favorites. Study plan helps me control my syllabus mapping while multimedia library makes my classes livelier.”

Educational institutes, particularly the higher education institutions, are the largest stakeholders to adapt to the technological advancement for better and efficient rendering of education to the mass learning community, including regular classrooms as well as distant students via online and offline e-learning. Emerging MyLabs technologies have the potential to create a great learning environment. In academic settings where Mylabs is being used, students and lecturers alike are reaping many of the benefits of the revolution in higher education. Supplemental class materials, guest lectures, presentations and video cassettes and key learning elements make Mylabs Technology well-suited for educational use, offering students full cognitive development. MyLabs aims to explore relationships between students’ learning styles and their preferences in using emerging technologies in higher education.

Mylabs technology not only enables automatic grading of the questions, but provides instructors with strong student diagnostics to highlight student weaknesses, effectively improving class performance. The technology also provides features such as a more focused student learning environment that coaches students to the correct answer and concept clarity.
