>Goa Super Sixes was kicked off with the fun game of beach cricket
Top Corporates from across India came together for the very first time to participate in the ‘Goa Super Sixes’ Cricket Tournament, India’s first premium annual corporate cricket tournament. The ‘Goa Super Sixes’ was kicked off with the fun game of beach cricket. Six teams participated in the beach cricket in a knockout format with Bombay Bombers (Percept Ltd) sitting this one out. The teams with the best quotient out of the three winning teams were to progress to the finals of the Beach Cricket Tournament. Team players were shuffled to allow the players to network with each other.
Participating teams included Future Kings (Future Group), Delhi Devils (Bharti Teleservices), Ghodawat Stars (Ghodawat Group), ITA Tigers (Indian Television Academy), Cornish Pirates (Maru Group), Pinc Panthers (Pinc Group). Each team was led by their respective leaders viz. Kishore Biyani, Rajan Mittal, Sanjay Ghodawat, Shashi Ranjan, Gaurang Gandhi and Vasant Maru.
Summary of the Beach Cricket:
Game 1: Beach Cricket started with a big bang with a spectacular showdown between Delhi Devil and Cornish Pirates. The Delhi Devils were dominant in their performance winning by a huge margin. Batting first Delhi Devils scored a huge total of 44 runs in the allotted 4 overs. The Cornish Pirates could only muster 24 runs in their run chase.
Game 2: The second game was another one-sided affair with the Future Kings winning comfortably. The Future Kings successfully chased the Ghodawat’s total of 25 in 1.2 overs itself. The margin of victory helping them to easily reach the finals.

Game 3: The game between ITA and Pinc Panthers was easily the best game on show with both teams fighting it out hard in the beach. Long hits and near misses were the highlights of this game. In the end ITA prevailed by a mere 4 runs. Unfortunately due to the narrow margin of victory, they missed out on a spot in the finals.
Finals: Future Kings and Delhi Devils faced-off in the finals with the match reduced to two overs each due to the fading evening light. Delhi batted first scoring a commendable 19 runs in the two allotted overs. This total proved too much for FK as they could only muster 14 runs due to some tight bowling and sharp fielding by the Delhi Devils. Delhi Devils were definitely the pick of the bunch in the Beach cricket…but can they keep this up when it matters? In the Super Sixes tournament!
