Punj Lloyd Group, the diversified global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) conglomerate, today announced a prestigious contract worth Rs. 539 crore from GAIL for gas pipe laying and terminal work from Dabhol to Bangalore.
Punj Lloyd will be laying 7 spreads comprising 820 km of the pipeline. The complete work of the pipeline from Dabhol to Bidadi and two additional spur lines (Gokak-Goa and Bechanhalli-Bangalore) has a total of ten spreads.
Speaking on the contract win, Mr. P K Gupta, Director, Punj Lloyd, said, “We are extremely proud to win seven out of the ten spreads of this prestigious pipeline project. Our association with GAIL is almost two decades old and we have executed several prestigious projects for them. This contract win reflects the confidence of the client in our project execution capabilities and reinforces our position as ‘pipeline experts’.”
The scope of work entails supply of material as required, installation, testing, pre- commissioning of pipeline, preservation, drying and commissioning. The work includes installation of pipeline and related piping works at intermediate pigging stations, sectionalizing valve stations, tap-offs and all associated mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, electrical, telecom and instrumentation work among others. The project will be executed over a period of 13 months.
Punj Lloyd won the Essar Steel Infrastructure Award in the Oil & Gas category in association with CNBC TV 18 for the prestigious Dahej Vijaipur pipeline project executed for GAIL in record 270 days. Today the Group can proudly claim to have laid in excess of 10,000 km of cross-country pipelines. Punj Lloyd owns a rich fleet of pipe laying equipment which enables the Group to manage 20 spreads of pipeline simultaneously. It is the only company to fully own an Indian flag pipelay barge – Kuber that can lay pipelines in water depths of 150 m, besides our other barges including pipelay, accommodation cum hook up and a push pull barge.
