Appoints Mr. Rajesh Sengamedu as Head of Professional Services Business

Qvantel Oy, a Finland headquartered company, specializing in telecom software product engineering outsourcing services and business/operations support systems today announced its plans to invest and build a ‘Center of Excellence’ in Bangalore to support its worldwide customers in software product engineering services. Qvantel also announces the appointment of a senior telecom industry professional, Mr. Rajesh Sengamedu as VP &GM of professional software services.

Qvantel Bangalore Development Center will be set up and made operational before September 2010. Initially the center will house about 30 engineers and will focus on supporting new business that would be acquired during the year. The center will also help in executing some of the projects for its Scandinavian Tier-1 telecom handset /chipset customers. The Bangalore center will play a key role in Qvantel’s growth strategy and provide clients the advantage of an offshore environment in Bangalore.

“Expanding our presence in Bangalore is a natural step in our growth strategy. We already have significant presence in Hyderabad, with more than 50 engineers, and Bangalore is our natural choice for expansion, given our key Nordic customers have a big R&D presence in Bangalore and are asking us to support them locally in Bangalore. Also, all major Tier-1 handset OEM /chipset companies have significant presence in Bangalore and this is an untapped opportunity for Qvantel”, said Liisa Grant, CEO, Qvantel Oy. “Our goal is to be the one stop vendor for all mobile OEMs/ODMs. Our Bangalore development center will bring us closer to where our customers are, and that is a key part of our growth strategy” she added.

“I am happy to be part of the Qvantel growth story. Qvantel has an excellent brand value in Nordics as a specialist consultant company. Our Bangalore development center is a step in the right direction to support our global customers locally as well as expand our customer reach” said Rajesh Sengamedu, who joins Qvantel as Head of their professional services business. Prior to joining Qvantel, Rajesh founded a startup in mobile content distribution space. “Rajesh brings in about 20 years of international business & entrepreneurial experience in the semiconductor & telecom space and we welcome him into the Qvantel family” said Mahender Nandikonda, COO and Founder of Qvantel.
