Following the launch of the Sanctuary-RBS Wildlife Awards 2010, The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), along with Sanctuary Asia, are calling for entries and nominations for the awards which recognise and draw attention to the contribution of individuals/organisations working for the protection of wildlife and natural habitats in India.
Entries and nominations are being invited across the nation for six categories that include:
- Lifetime Service Award – honours an individual whose life has been devoted to the protection of the wildlife species or their habitats on the Indian subcontinent
- Wildlife Service Awards – honour individuals currently working in the field who have displayed extraordinary courage, dedication and determination in the field of wildlife conservation
- Green Teacher Award - honours exceptional work by an individual in the education of wildlife and conservation values to students in Indian schools or colleges
- Young Naturalist Awards – recognises individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 who show extraordinary care and respect for nature
- Wind under the Wings Award – recognises an organisation that has supported individuals in their efforts to make a difference in wildlife conservation
- Wildlife Photography Awards – for images taken in the wild based on the theme “Call of the Wild”

The last date for submitting entries/nominations for this year’s Sanctuary-RBS Wildlife Awards is 31 October 2010, and the awards ceremony will be held on 3 December 2010 in Mumbai.
This is the 11th year in which RBS has partnered with Sanctuary Asia to recognise the best in the field of wildlife conservation and to celebrate the unsung heroes of India who are defending her wildernesses and consequently safeguarding her food and water security.
