Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra), Mumbai’s largest power distributor, has come up with an unique way to relieve consumers from the rising power bills, it has launched a comprehensive programme to distribute energy efficient electrical appliances and gadgets to consumers at discounted rates under its campaign, viz., ‘Change for Mumbai’.

Under ‘Change for Mumbai’ campaign, RInfra will be distributing 5 Star split air conditioners and ceiling fans among its consumers. At present, the project is being carried out in Goregaon (west) and Kandivali (West) area on pilot basis; which, would be then taken further for the entire licensed distribution area in due course.

Similarly, the Company had earlier facilitated consumers with the distribution of T5 Energy Efficient Tube-lights, primarily on pilot basis in Mira-Bhaindar area; which has now been taken further to entire distribution area of the Company.

To ensure quality products for its consumers, RInfra had endeavoured to create tie-ups with the world class brands. For 5 star split air conditioners the Company has tied up with LG; whereas for 5 star ceiling fans, it is Havells. For T5 energy efficient tube lights Company is already in tie up with Osram.

RInfra, with these tie-ups has ensured a quality product for its consumers in discounted rates, which also includes free installation. With this, the consumers are going to save almost Rs.11000 to Rs.13000 on purchase cost of the air conditioner depending upon its capacity; where as Rs.1000 on the purchase cost of the ceiling fan. Consumers are already saving Rs.400 on the purchase cost of T5 energy efficient tube lights under the campaign. In addition to this, consumers’ annual net saving on their electricity bills would range between Rs.11000 to Rs.20000 on the air conditioners depending upon the capacity; Rs.400 on ceiling fans and Rs.250 on T5 tube lights.

To reiterate, as a part of its several ongoing activities to educate consumers on energy saving, RInfra had initiated “I Will, Mumbai Will” campaign in 2006 – 07; under which, several RInfra teams were engaged in educating power consumers on the effective and economical usage of power gadgets to control power consumption through lecture/demonstration methods.

The Company had also distributed more than 6 lacs CFL bulbs among the consumers so as to enable them to control their power consumption.

Spokesperson, Reliance Infrastructure, on the occasion said, “RInfra is committed to bring ‘Change for Mumbai’ through such unique offers for its consumers. We are confident that this would help them in bringing their power bills down.” He also said, “RInfra would explore all the possibilities to bring world class quality products for cheaper rates for its consumers”.
