It also houses a Kangaroo Mother Care [KMC] lounge, a designated area for a special technique to provide warmth, a speedy recovery and faster weight gain to premature babies with low birth weight. More From This Section
Another unique feature of the ward is post-pregnancy cosmetology at the hospital. After the delivery, many women have to reduce weight, address issues like flab and stretch marks. These are best addressed by a cosmetologist who is also available to provide advice in the same unit, thereby, ensuring a holistic approach to for the baby & mother from pre to post delivery.
The theme or ambience created for the ward is centered on femininity and motherhood through appealing visuals & color themes. The total aura & feel that has been created is aimed to make parenthood a complete, enjoyable and emotionally fulfilling experience.
Says Dr Uma Nambiar, CEO - S L Raheja (A Fortis Associate) Hospital & Zonal Director - Fortis Healthcare, “The capacity of the NICU is, at present, 4 beds/cradles. Eventually, the department plans to expand the unit up to 8-10 beds. The Outborn and Inborn baby sections will be separate to minimize cross-infection. The post-natal ward will have around 15 beds. The future plans for the maternity ward are the development of a state-of-art IVF centre to complete the Mother and Child Health program.”
