Serco inaugurates new facility in Dehradun

Serco - a leading FTSE 100 international service company that acquired Intelenet Global Services last year, today achieved another milestone in expanding its regional footprint by inaugurating a new facility in Dehradun.

The facility is located at Dehradun IT Park, Sahashtradhara Road. The centre has the capacity to seat 225 associates who will provide business process outsourcing services to clients in the telecommunications industry. The centre will service prepaid, postpaid and 3G cellular subscriber base of BSNL- in the telecom circles of Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand. Serco is in the process of expanding the facility to cater to its other domestic and International clients and is targeting to employ over 2000 staff in the next 18 months.

 

Serco group company, Intelenet, was the first BPO to set up operations in the city of Dehradun 3 years ago and currently employs close to 250 associates in the city.

Commenting on the launch of the new facility, Mr. Bhupender Singh, CEO, AMEAA said, “Dehradun offers a vast talent pool, favourable infrastructure facilities and an advantageous industrial climate. The launch of this centre augments our presence in North India and is a step forward in establishing our expertise in government & public sector outsourcing. We offer citizen centric services to UIDAI, IT Dept & IRDA”

“The new facility will play an important role in helping us realize our vision of offering end to end outsourcing solutions to clients and provide local employment opportunities in the state of Uttarakhand,” added Mr. Singh.

The launch of Serco’s Dehradun facility comes close on the heels of its recently launched delivery centres in Lucknow and Patna reflecting its commitment as the dominant player in the domestic Indian BPO industry. Serco was the first International BPO to venture into the domestic BPO sector in 2005. The domestic Indian BPO market is forecast to grow by around 20% per annum to $2.5bn in 2014, according to Gartner. Intelenet’s domestic business currently has client relationships with leading multinational companies across telecom, banking, insurance, consumer durables, retail, media, aviation & public sectors and provides services in 15 languages.
