The Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD), which has launched a new venture - Integrate Green Ventures (IGV), in a first of its kind, is organising a two-day Energy Symposium & Vendors Conclave — ESVC 2011, on May 13 & 14, 2011 at Nimhans Convention Hall, Hosur Road.
The main objective of the Symposium, which will be inaugurated by Minister for Energy, Food & Civil Supplies, Shoba Karandalje, is to create awareness about energy efficiency and conservation.
The Symposium will be presided over by Former United Nations Under Secretary General & TERI Chairman Dr A Ramachandran and the Keynote will be delivered by CII-Karnataka Chairman & Bhoruka Power Managing Director S Chandrasekar. Besides release of souvenir, the day will also see address by Department of Energy Additional Chief Secretary Shameem Banu.
The symposium will see interactive sessions with Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMS) and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), other high professional organizations and energy efficient product manufacturers.
There will be presentations from eminent energy management and conservation specialists as well as special sessions on consumer requirements for energy efficient products and services.
Prominent speakers at the two-day Symposium will be Government of India Bureau of Energy Efficiency S P Garnik, Wipro Limited’s Ramakrishnan Ramaswamy, Director for Industries & Commerce Rajkumar Khatri, Schneider Electric India General Manager Sales (Energy Management Services) Abraham Varghese, Karnataka State Biofuel Development Board Chairman Y B Ramakrishna, IIT-Mumbai Prof Dr Milind, and Edinburg, UK-based Carbon Management Society Member & Cool Earth Senior Consultant Pranam Reddy.
Besides providing a platform for meeting of the best minds in conservation, the symposium will bring together academicians, practitioners and manufacturers in the field of energy conservation.

It aims to expose end users to the range of latest technologies available in energy efficient, while, for vendors and manufacturers, the symposium will give an opportunity for deeper market penetration.
The Vendor Conclave will see participation from national and international manufacturers of energy saving products and retrofits as also green and sustainable energy products.
The highlight of the two-day meet, they said, will be the Energy Conservation Awards Evening where organisations with the successful energy conservation initiatives in the four categories of corporate, construction companies, industries and hospitality will be given awards for best performance. The awardees will be selected by a high profile jury headed by KERC Chairman, Mr M R Srinivas Murthy.
The awards will be given away by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Infosys CEO & Managing Director Kris Gopalakrishnan.
The two-day Symposium, which will be an annual feature, has attracted over 300 national and international participants and companies drawn from Information Technology, Construction Sector, Government Agencies and other industry bodies.
