Shree Cement has added another feather to its cap by winning Commendation Certificate for Strong Commitment for Sustainability for the year 2009.The award was instituted jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and ITC to promote awareness about sustainable development in the Indian businesses. The Honorable Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India Sh. Jairam Ramesh presented the CII ITC Sustainability Awards 2009 to Sh. M.K. Singhi, Executive Director Shree Cement Limited during the 4th Sustainability Summit: Asia 2009 held at New Delhi on 26th Nov.09. Other reputed companies in this category of award were Maruti, ONGC, HZL, GTL, BHEL.
Sh. M.K. Singhi, on the occasion congratulated the members of Shree family and said that this award has demonstrated Shree’s comprehensive approach to advancing Economic, Environmental and Social Sustainability & emphasized that building strong social and environmental credentials is essential for long term sustainability therefore industry should embed social and environmental dimensions into corporate strategy and business processes and practices. He said that assessment of the company for this award is a transparent and rigorous process based on the Sustainability Excellence Model developed on methodology adapted from the internationally acclaimed European Foundation for Quality Management. He also said that conferring awards and recognition are creative ways to nurture innovation, promote excellence, build trust and shape a sustainable future for all. Commitment for sustainability has enhanced brand image and national recognition, improved profitability, helped to green the environment, reduced green house gas emissions and increased prosperity of nearby community and stakeholders.
The company’s fourth Corporate Sustainability Report describing its triple bottom line approach according to G3 guidelines has been published and awarded A+ level. Recently Shree Cement has also been awarded for Quality Excellence and Energy Management by National Council for Cement & Building Materials (NCCBM) and CII respectively.
