Sriram Life Insurance wins 9th Amity Insurance Cricket Cup

In the sensational finals of 9th Amity Insurance Cup played between Max New York Life Insurance Company and Sriram Life Insurance Company held at Amity University Grounds, Sriram Life Insurance Company defeated Max New York Life Insurance Company by 41 runs.

After winning the toss Sriram Life Insurance Company decided to bat first. With the help of Azam Khan''s quick 67 runs, Sriram Life Insurance scored a total of 172 runs at loss of 6 wickets in alloted 25 overs.

In reply Max New York Life Insurance was able to score only 131 runs all out in 20.1 overs.

Bowler Jasbir Singh of Sriram Life Insurance was announced Man of the Match for his brilliant spell of 5 wickets by giving 21 runs.

 

In order to bring the insurance companies on a common platform and to develop a sense of camaraderie, Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Science floated Amity Insurance Cricket Cup and have organized eight such tournaments. The 9th Amity Insurance Cricket Cup commenced on November 15th, 2010 with the participation of 15 companies from the Insurance Sector.

After the finals of Amity Insurance Cricket Cup, the award ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Mr. Anil Jain, Joint Secretary, BCCI, Mr. Warren Bruce, Executive Director, Shriram Life Insurance, Maj. Gen K.Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Prof. R.R. Grover, Director, Amity School of Insurance & Actuarial Sciences gave away the trophy to the winners and the runners- up. Mr. Ajay of Max New York Life Insurance was announced Best Batsman, Mr. Lokesh from Max New York Life Insurance got Best Bowler trophy and Best All Rounder trophy went to Mr. Azam Khan from Sriram Life Insurance.

Mr. Anil Jain, Joint Secretary, BCCI lauded the efforts of Amity Humanity Foundation and the work done by the Foundation for the up-lifment of the underprivileged girl child. Mr. Jain advised the players to imbibe their sporting spirit rather than winning in their game. He encouraged students to be professional in their approach and imbibe values and concentrate in their games. He said, ‘Sports is important as a character builder. However emphasis should be laid on team sports as compared to individual events’. He added that one should follow 5D’s in life – desire, dedication, determination, devotion and discipline.

Mr. Warren Bruce, Executive Director, Shriram Life Insurance cheered the players and said, ‘It is quite interesting to watch how the players conduct themselves after victory. They do not get intoxicated when others praise them. They do not lose their balance of mind, but try to improve their performance to bring out better results’.

The Cup is dedicated to support the Foundation’s NGO arm, “AMITASHA”, the institution which was founded under the visionary leadership of Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson AMITASHA and Amity International Schools. Amitasha is working for the education and up-liftment of ‘girl child’ belonging to the disadvantaged sections of the society.
