Portfolio 2011 – the annual graduating event of Fashion Design students from Pearl Academy of Fashion, Chennai saw young talents put together a mesmerizing show of innovation, flair and creative genius for a diverse group of industry professionals at Chennai Trade Centre. The show was choreographed and compered by renowned stylist and fashion guru Prasad Bidapa.
Portfolio 2011 is the culmination of the students’ learning at the Academy. The joint endeavor by the graduating students of the 4-year BA (Honours) and 2- year PG Diploma is aimed at showcasing their innovative design solutions and construction techniques to the industry. Students are required to demonstrate their aptitude for design development, fashion presentation, market knowledge and trend forecasting skills acquired through industry exposure and the duration of their course at Pearl.
Mr. S Ramalingam, Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion said, “Four years of learning, toil, trials and tribulations culminated at the annual ramp presentation -'Portfolio 2011'.”
Mr. Ramalingam further added “Pearl Academy of Fashion imparts international quality education to its students to meet the dynamic needs of the fashion industry. Since the fashion industry is constantly evolving and is a highly consumer focused industry, the real challenge is to meet aspirations that keep shifting because of global influences.”
Students of the 4-year full-time B.A. (Honours) Programme in Fashion Design (FDUG) presented 23 collections; and the 2-year full time PG Diploma Programme in Fashion Design (FDPG) presented 6 collections based on the vast and rich pool of Indian crafts and value-addition techniques.
