Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company has been honoured by the Ministry of Power at the National Award Ceremony in New Delhi for the year 2009-10 and 2010- 11.
The award ceremony was graced by Honourable Union Minister of Power Shri Sushil kumar Shinde, who felicitated Tata Power with three bronze awards for the Meritorious Performance in three categories. These include:
· Performance of Distribution company for the year 2010-11
· Performance of Thermal Power Stations for Trombay Combined Cycle GT Power Station (180 MW) for the year 2010-11
· Performance of Hydro award for the Bhira & Bhira PSS (300 MW) station for the year 2009-10.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director Tata Power said “We are privileged to receive this recognition by way of awards at the National Award Ceremony by the Ministry of Power. This award will further motivate us, in our efforts towards being a world class organisation”.
The Ministry of Power has instituted a Comprehensive award scheme for recognising meritorious performance on the Power sector with effect from 2004-05.The award covers various facets of power sector with the objective of developing a spirit of competitiveness among the generating stations in thermal, hydro and nuclear generation, transmission and distribution utilities in operation and maintenance and early completion of thermal, hydro and transmission projects. The awards also encourage environment protection as well as aim at improving the efficiency and productivity of the power utilities. 24 awards were given for meritorious performance under different categories in 2009-10 while 26 were given for 2010-11.
