The Institute document shows correlation between business ethics and strong performance

Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, announced that it has been named "one of the world's most ethical companies" by The Ethisphere Institute. The Institute announced last week its fourth annual selection of the World's Most Ethical Companies, highlighting 100 organizations that lead the way in promoting ethical business standards.

According to The Institute's announcement, "These companies go beyond legal minimums, introduce innovative ideas benefiting the public and force their competitors to follow suit." This year's list features more than two dozen first time recipients including Teradata, The Institute has reported.

"This recognition is especially meaningful to Teradata," said Mike Koehler, president and chief executive officer of Teradata Corporation. "We achieved this honor less than three years after becoming an independent publicly-traded company, and we are among only four software companies selected from across the globe. I was pleased to see a number of Teradata customers, suppliers and business partners also were recognized with the same honor."

Many organizations sought to be on the list - the top 100 were carefully selected from over 3,000. "The competition for the World's Most Ethical Companies was the strongest it has ever been, with a record number of organizations vying for this distinguished honor," said Alex Brigham, Executive Director of the Ethisphere Institute. "This year's group recognizes the important role ethics play in brand reputation, which ultimately is the most valuable asset for a corporation. There is a strong correlation between a company's ethics program and its performance, with ethical companies outperforming the market. This proves that having a commitment to ethics is a competitive advantage and is imperative to business."

"This award not only recognizes the Teradata ethics and compliance program as being world class," said Todd Carver, chief ethics and compliance officer of Teradata Corporation. "It also recognizes Teradata as one of the top 100 companies in the world leading the way by promoting ethical business standards; by introducing innovative products and ideas that benefit public well being; by setting high standards for other companies to strive for; and by delivering on corporate citizenship and social responsibility commitments. These areas were key among criteria used by The Ethisphere Institute in the selection process."

Carver said that strong corporate governance practices were also among the criteria as well as executive leadership that exemplify "ethics and integrity."

"This award recognizes the contributions and conduct of Teradata employees and organizations throughout the world who prove their excellence in operating a highly successful business the right way - with ethics and integrity serving as the foundation for everything we do," said Koehler.
