TERI and H & R Johnson (India) sign MoU for Sugar Industry

H & R Johnson (India), a Division of Prism Cement Limited and The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on May 18, 2010 to formalize their collaboration to develop and manufacture a cost effective ceramic membrane for filtration of Sugar cane juice in Sugar Industry. The use of membrane is sought to improve yield and quality of Sugar during manufacturing, thus enhancing profitability within the industry.

Through this collaboration, HRJ and TERI will be conducting research together to upscale the technology and commercialize this membrane for clarification of sugar cane juice in the course of production of sugar. This technology would have a number of advantages over existing methods and generate immense profitability for the industry if the technology is successfully established.
