The consumer durable giant, gifts 15 LCD Tvs to the kids at Muktangan as a part of ‘Whole School’ initiative
As a part of their CSR initiative, Toshiba India Pvt. Ltd. today presented 15 LCDs to help hundreds of socio-economically backward and marginalized children for their wholesome education and entertainment at Muktangan in Mumbai. The Organization is working for urban disadvantaged communities in India by developing a child-centered, community-based inclusive model that provides all aspects of quality education to every child.
Toshiba India has always been involved for the cause of children’s education across the country. After its recent successful association with the schools and NGOs looking after physically challenged children in Chennai, this time around, Toshiba India is driving the cause in Mumbai for the education and entertainment of the disadvantaged children, by gifting them 15 LCDs which will be a learning tool for them in many ways than one.
Toshiba has hand- picked Muktangan- an initiative of Paragon Charitable Trust; the organisation is a pioneering educational programme with an innovative model, working in close partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for over 2000 children across 7 schools. They have been selflessly working on innovative educational model to address the limitations in mainstream government schools in India.
Speaking on the awe-inspiring occasion, Mr. Pranab Mohanty, Business Head - Consumer Products Division, Toshiba India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Toshiba's philosophy is summed up in its corporate slogan: Committed to People, Committed to the Future. The Company emphasizes on management that is grounded in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and that promotes respect for people, innovate to create value, and contributes to the society”.

He further elaborates, “The integration of deprived and socio-economically backward children into mainstream society is what we emphasize on and what we work for. An initiative like this will give children the opportunity to interact with the outer world and help increase their knowledge the better way. I hope that through this medium they will be able to nurture their ambitions and dreams. The project is also inspiring for Toshiba and me personally, as I believe the future is in the hands of children and if we can in our own little way encourage them, we would have done our bit”.
He added further, “For Toshiba, CSR is a reflection of the brand. It is inextricably linked to a company's brand identity and philosophy. New thinking and innovation have always strengthened Toshiba’s approach and this has proved to be an enduring point of difference for the brand. We are going to roll out many more such initiatives in many cities in the near future”.
The visibly elated Mrs.Usha Laxman, Director Resources, Muktangan was as enthusiastic as Toshiba about the initiative. When asked to comment, he/she said: “this is the first time a Consumer Durable brand is giving away LCDs for the cause of education of marginalized children.
