Toyota posts record sales in March 2007

New Delhi, April 2, 2007: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has posted a record breaking performance in March 2007 crossing sales of 6,600 units in a month for the first time.
 
 
TKM sold 5,411 units of the Toyota Innova, 1083 units of the Toyota Corolla and 197 of the imported vehicles Toyota Camry and Toyota Prado Landcruiser.
 
 
The Corolla has come back with a strong performance in March attracting customers across segments. "We are extremely pleased to see the surge in Corolla sales. This is an indication that customers are definitely seeing value in ride comfort and long term reliability of the Corolla," said Mr. A. Toyoshima, Managing Director, TKM.
 
 
The Toyota Corolla has attracted customers from the personal and corporate segments across India. "The customers have noticed that the Corolla offers the most luxurious passenger seats and the best performance through the VVTi engine. The Corolla owner also enjoys peace of mind through the 3 year or one lakh kilometer warranty, which is not available in its competitors," added Mr. Toyoshima.
 
 
TKM has also firmly ruled out any immediate plans to launch of a new Corolla this year. This is in response to rumours in the market and some queries at various Toyota dealerships across India.
 
 
Since its debut in Japan in 1966, the Toyota Corolla has gained the favor of millions of users, playing a key role in driving motorization forward. The Corolla, which redefined the sedan category in India, is a best seller in over 140 countries and regions. The Corolla has created automobile history with worldwide sales crossing 32 million.
 
 
The Corolla is presently available in India has impeccable styling with added safety features. The recently-launched Corolla Executive has been well accepted in the corporate segment. TKM has sold over 900 Corolla Executive units since its launch six months ago.
 
 
The Toyota Innova has clearly redefined the passenger car segment in India, selling over 5400 units in March 2007. "The Innova is India's first three-row passenger car. It has captured customers from the passenger car as well as the UV segments," added Mr. Toyoshima.
 
 
Ever since its launch in early 2005, the Toyota Innova has attracted customers in large numbers. TKM added excitement by introducing new variants like G1 with power windows and limited edition Innova, both of which were very successful in the market.
 
 
For the second anniversary, Toyota has introduced the Innova new E-Grade, a more value for money proposition aimed at the corporate and travel segment. The strategic introduction of the new E-Grade opens up these two very critical segments in the market.
 
 
TKM has posted record of selling 51,346 vehicles in FY 2006-07. It also registered a growth of 26% in the January "� March 2007 compared to the same period last year.
 
 
About Toyota Kirloskar Motor: Toyota Kirloskar Motor is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and the Kirloskar Group. TKM has invested nearly Rs. 1,500 crore in its plant in Bidadi, employing over 2,400 people of whom over 90 per cent are from Karnataka.
 
The plant started production in December 1999 and has an installed capacity of manufacturing 60,000 vehicles per annum.
