  • Railway to complete 1000 kms of rail lines in one year.
  • Received the Essar Steel Infrastructure Excellence Award in the Railway category

Unity Infraprojects Ltd., (BSE: 532746), one of India’s major civil contracting firms, has geared up to take a lead in bagging big ticket railway infrastructure projects. There are lots of opportunities as the railways have decided to ramp up the larger version of infrastructure to bring more cities and towns on the map of Indian Railways. Today, Indian Railways operate at least 11,000 trains every day covering 63,465km (39,435 miles) across the length and breadth of the country, making it one of the world's largest rail networks.

Recently, Unity received the prestigious "Essar Steel Infrastructure Excellence Awards" in the Railway Category for its "Tripura Tunnel Project" at the hands of Shri. Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Surface Transport at a dazzling function held at Delhi.

Unity Infraprojects had constructed a tunnel, 1756 metres in length, 6.30m in width and 7.88 m in height using a special blade shield, Jet Grouting and soft soil stabilising techniques. Procurement of raw material was very difficult owing to remoteness of project site. Execution of this project was also very difficult due to significant difficulties in procuring materials from Guwahati; procurement was slow and more expensive than had been projected.

Mr. Abhijit Avarsekar, VCMD & CEO, Unity Infraprojects Limited has dedicated the  Infrastructure Excellence Award to his team who were responsible for working on such a difficult civil engineering project in the technical sense as well as operationally, because of insurgency and an unsafe environment (diseases like malaria prevail in the area).

"Initially there was a bit of apprehension from the client on the issue of deliverance of milestones. The company left no stone unturned in mobilizing qualified and trained manpower who worked tirelessly & devotedly to complete the project of National Pride within the stipulated time frame & in turn gained the confidence of the Indian Railways in our capacity to deliver such difficult projects in time. It’s a dream come true for the people of Tripura, with the entry of the Northeast Frontier Railway and is the newest point on the map of the Indian Railways in the country’s northeast region” adds Avarsekar.
