UTI Balanced Fund declares tax-free dividend of 15%

UTI  Balanced Fund declares tax-free dividend of 15% (Rs 1.50  per unit on face value of Rs 10/). Pursuant to the payment of dividend, the NAV of the dividend option of the scheme would fall to the extent of payout and statutory levy (if applicable).

The record date for the dividend is September 22, 2010.

All unitholders registered under the dividend option of UTI Balanced Fund as on September 22, 2010 will be eligible for this dividend. Also investors who join the dividend option of the scheme on or before the record date will be eligible for the dividend.

UTI Balanced Fund has been a consistent performer with 15 years of uninterrupted track record of dividend distribution.

The NAV per unit as on September 16, 2010 was Rs 24.85 under the dividend option.

During the last one year the scheme has generated a return of 25.10% as compared to the benchmark return of 13.20%. The detailed scheme performance is given below:

UTI Balanced Fund was launched in 1995 as an open-end balanced scheme. The scheme aims to invest in a portfolio of equity/equity related securities and fixed income securities (debt and money market securities) with a view to generate regular income together with capital appreciation.

Amandeep S Chopra the fund manager of the scheme said "The asset allocation in the scheme is designed keeping in mind the necessity of providing consistent returns and maintaining a balance between debt and equity."
