Southern super star Venkatesh and Dr G S Rao inaugurate Yashoda Cancer Helpline.
On the eve of World Cancer Day, Dr G S Rao, MD, Yashoda Hospital along with Southern Super star Venkatesh launched “The Yashoda Cancer Helpline”, an initiative to provide cancer patients and their families all the support & information they need pertaining to cancer and coping with it.
Also present at the event were the brave cancer survivors of Yashoda Cancer Institute who shared their experiences of living with the illness and their fight against it.
This is Venkatesh’s first association with Yashoda Hospital and speaking on the occasion he said, “I am honored and feel very privileged to be part of this noble cause of ‘fighting cancer’. The objective of the Cancer Helpline is to reach people at large, create awareness on cancer and early detection of the disease. I would like to applaud the Yashoda Team and these brave cancer patients being treated at the Yashoda Cancer Institute. Their fight against cancer gives hope to all those battling this illness.”
It is estimated that there are 15-20 lakh of people with cancer at any one time, with 8 lakh being added every year. While there are many who come to terms with it and have the ability to get treated, the majority sadly do not have the right direction and means to treat it and come at the late stage of the disease. With the launch of the Cancer Helpline it will provide cancer patients and their families with all the support & information they need to fight it.
Launching the Cancer Helpline, Dr G S Rao, Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals said, “As an organization we recognize that every person is important, and hence deserves the very best care possible. Cancer can cause a great deal of stress and pain to the patients and their families and it is important for them to realize they are not alone in their fight against the disease.
