Yes to collaborate with Intel for banking services

Mumbai, September 12, 2006: Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with YES BANK, India's new-age private sector bank, today announced the first of its kind deployment of an extensive wireless and mobile network among retail banks in the world. The technology solution by Intel un-wires YES BANK branches to deliver secure, innovative wireless banking to staff and customers.

The infrastructure and hardware deployment will increase YES BANK's competitiveness by improving its retail branches' efficiency and enable the Bank to take traditional over-the counter retail banking services to a higher level. YES BANK will have wireless local area networks (LANs), within the branch premises, to allow its customers access to the internet and to conduct wireless banking transactions in a fully secure environment.

YES BANK's staff can leverage the mobility of Intel® Centrino® mobile technology-based notebook computers to access the bank's secure internal wireless LAN for anywhere-access to banking applications within the branches.

The bank's financial advisors can be mobile within the branch premises via Intel® Centrino® mobile technology-based notebooks while still being connected to the bank's network, giving the customers a new sense of comfort.

Intel has provided technology guidance to YES BANK to fine-tune its requirements, optimize infrastructure design and to verify the pilot implementation. Intel's wireless solution gives YES BANK the safety and security of a wired network, with a three-tiered data security shell, including authentication, encryption checks, and data integrity checks.

Authentication: A wireless device must submit credentials to be validated before it can exchange data on the wireless network. Internet Authentication Service (IAS) and Active Directory Service (ADS) are used to authenticate users.

Encryption: To ensure data confidentiality before being transmitted, data is encrypted using Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP), a protocol used by Wi-Fi* Protected Access (WPA) and a security mechanism that provides enhanced data protection and control of access to a wireless LAN.

Data integrity: Transmitted data includes information used to ensure the data was not modified in transit. For additional protection, the service set identifier (SSID) of the wireless network is not broadcast, requiring that any device that connects to the network must be set up to be aware of the SSID.
