"The state government has been violating the code of conduct despite announcement of the panchayat poll schedule ... It has announced a number of things including plans for recuitment of teachers," AGP president and former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said.

Stating that the AGP has made a verbal complaint to the state Election Commission, he said, "Maybe by tomorrow, we will also give a written complaint."

He urged the Commission to ensure that no more policy announcements were made by the state government till the end of polls.

The panchayat elections will be held in three phases on January 30, February 6 and February 12, 2013.

AGP has announced that alleged corruption and mismanagement of government funds would be among its main electoral planks.
